Eligible institutions include:
K–12 schools: Primary and secondary schools that are government-recognized and accredited.
Higher education institutions: Colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions delivering nationally or internationally approved certifications. - Accreditation
Institutions must be formally accredited and deliver instruction leading to recognized certifications or degrees. - Active Online Presence
An active website associated with the educational institution is required. - Application Submission
The application for Google Workspace for Education must be submitted by an individual affiliated with the institution. - Nonprofit Status
While not mandatory, nonprofit K–12 schools and higher education institutions are eligible to sign up for Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals.

What editions does Google Workspace for Education have?
Google Workspace for Education is available to all eligible institutions for free with Education Fundamentals. For institutions that need more advanced features, Google offers paid editions: Education Standard, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Education Plus.
How much does each edition of Google Workspace for Education cost?
Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals is available to all eligible institutions at no cost, while Education Standard, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Education Plus are paid editions.
Does each model have different storage space?
All models come with 100 TB of institutionally shared storage. Teaching and Learning Upgrade and Education Plus editions offer additional storage based on the number of licenses purchased. See the comparison chart for more details or visit the Help Center.
Can I use more than one version at the same time?
It depends on the models you will be using at the same time.
You must have the Education Fundamentals edition to upgrade to another edition (Education Standard, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, or Education Plus).
You cannot use Education Plus with Education Standard or Teaching and Learning Upgrade, it can only be used with Education Fundamentals.
You can use Education Standard and Teaching and Learning Upgrade together. While we believe Education Plus offers the greatest benefits of using the editions together, we want to offer the flexibility to best meet the needs of our school community.
Are there any discounts and/or incentives for customers who sign multi-year contracts?
Google automatically offers discounts to customers who sign up for a multi-year (2+ year) Google Workspace for Education Plus subscription. For more information, contact your Google Workspace for Education Reseller Partner and/or Google for Education representative.
When upgrading to the paid edition of Google Workspace for Education (Plus, Teaching & Learning Upgrade, and/or Standard), do I need to sign the new Workspace for Education Terms of Service Agreement?
No, you do not need to sign any contracts or addendums for the new Workspace for Education.
Can I upgrade/downgrade to another version?
All paid versions of Google Workspace for Education are billed annually, and the price is locked in until the end of the subscription period.
Customers who purchase the Teaching and Learning Upgrade can add Education Standard at any time (and vice versa), as well as upgrade to Education Plus.
Customers can decide whether to continue or downgrade their subscription at the end of their subscription period.
How long does a paid Google Workspace for Education subscription last?
All paid versions of Google Workspace for Education are available as an annual subscription, with pricing locked in until the end of the subscription period. However, institutions can also subscribe to the Teaching and Learning Upgrade on a monthly basis instead of purchasing an annual plan.
Will schools that previously purchased G Suite Enterprise for Education automatically have access to all the new features coming with Google Workspace for Education Plus?
Yes, all customers who purchase G Suite Enterprise for Education will get the new features and functionality introduced in the new Google Workspace for Education.
Does the paid version of Google Workspace for Education have a trial version?
Yes, our authorized Google Workspace for Education partners can offer 60-day trials of Education Plus, Education Standard, and Teaching and Learning Upgrade, providing 50 licenses.
