About

Jad Tarifi is an AI researcher and founder serving as CEO & Co-founder at Integral AI. He worked at Google from 2012 to 2021, where he founded its first generative AI team and researched learning from limited data. He holds a Ph.D. in AI from the University of Florida and an M.S. in quantum computing. Integral AI, which he co-founded in 2021 with Nima Asgharbeygi, develops AI models for automated systems such as robots and self-driving cars, and has offices in San Francisco and Tokyo. Jad brings a researcher-founder perspective on generative AI, robotics, the path toward artificial general intelligence, and building an AI company between Silicon Valley and Japan. The role provides direct exposure to how a small research-led startup develops foundation models, works with industrial partners, and competes with much larger AI companies. Jad is particularly relevant to conversations around AI for robotics and physical systems, the route from agentic AI to AGI, Japan's position in the AI field, and how AI startups can compete with the largest players.
