Shuji Honjo is a management consultant and educator serving as Managing Director at Honjo International (Honjo Office), the practice he set up in 1998 to advise Japanese and US companies on new business development and IT. He has been a visiting professor at Tama Graduate School of Business since 2009, teaching entrepreneurship and corporate venturing, and is an outside director of Kozo Keikaku Engineering Holdings. He joined Boston Consulting Group in 1987, then worked at Computer Sciences Corporation in the US and in group strategy at CSK/Sega, set up the Tokyo office of growth equity firm General Atlantic as its Japan representative, and worked in principal investment at Lehman Brothers Japan. He holds an MBA from Wharton and a PhD from Waseda University. Shuji brings a consultant-investor perspective on new business creation, corporate venturing, growth strategy, and board governance. His work gives him direct exposure to how startups and large companies build new businesses, and to how investors and boards assess them. Shuji is particularly relevant to conversations around new business development, intrapreneurship, Japan-US business strategy, and working with large corporations.
