What is the Developer Referral Program?
It's a program that rewards developers for identifying qualified merchants with a commission. The program is free to join and allows you to monetize your client base and earn commissions from each qualified PayPal merchant referral.
What requirements do I need to meet to join the program?
To apply, you must:
- Meet with a Program Representative
- Have a new or existing PayPal Business account (commission payout will be paid to this account)
- Read and agree to the Referral Program Agreement
What is the commission structure?
You're eligible to receive a fixed commission for all new merchant referrals. Commission starts at $500 and goes up to $2,500 for an eligible merchant referral. There is no maximum number of merchants you can refer; we want you to earn as much as possible.
Can I join the Referral Program in any country?
At this time, the program is currently only available to individuals and/or businesses based in the US and Canada.
What qualifies as a good referral?
Any merchant that accepts payment electronically. Keep in mind that we do have restrictions on certain types of businesses that we work with.
Where do I submit my referrals?
All referrals are submitted in PayPal's Community Referral Portal. This is also where you will be able to track your merchants. You will receive credentials once you join the program.
What information do I need to submit a referral?
You will need the merchant's business and contact name, email, website, country, phone number, and estimated annual transaction volume.
How will I receive my compensation?
All funds will be direct deposited into the new PayPal business account you created.
How do I know how much I will be receiving?
After 60 days of the merchant's transaction activity, the commission amount is determined based on the annualized volume in the first 60 days.
